- object:
- Frankfurt, UB, Fragm. lat. X 72
- claim:
- an unlisted scivias witness
- note:
- reported to the library. no answer yet.
The two half-leaves catalogued as a “Theologischer Text” appear to contain Hildegard of Bingen’s Scivias (II.1, cc. 4–8, and II.2, cc. 6–8); the fragment is not listed in the Embach–Wallner Conspectus (2013).
Pending: Reported to the holding library or a specialist; no answer yet. Sent to UB Frankfurt on 2026-10-24. Whether it is unknown to Hildegard scholarship is not established.
Two half-leaves, used as covers for a pair of later volumes, in a gothic hand of the thirteenth or fourteenth century. The red numbered headings are Hildegard’s own chapter titles, “Quare filius dei dicitur verbum” among them, and eight passages match the printed text.
The Conspectus der Handschriften Hildegards von Bingen (2013) lists one Frankfurt fragment, Fragm. lat. I 95, a different work. Neither Embach (2003) nor the witness list of the critical edition names a Frankfurt Scivias fragment. The readings have been compared only with the Patrologia text, not with the critical edition.
